We started off the day at Sycamore Kitchen. If you are looking for anything from a fantastic pastry and cup of coffee to homemade bread and local seasonal veggies this place is amazing. There was a little bit of a line but it was worth the wait. They have a patio with big umbrellas for the summer and heaters for the winter. We loved how fresh everything tasted and how friendly the staff was. We will definitely be going back. I decided to try the Turkey Banh-mi and my husband got the Grilled Short-rib sandwich.
If you have been reading my blog for a while you know that my husband loves craft beer and local breweries. So of course we went to a few in L.A. that he's been excited to check out since the move. After lunch we headed over to Golden Road Brewing. I can't say enough good things about this place. Great beer, great food, plenty of indoor and outdoor space and a photo booth! If you live anywhere near L.A. go there now.
Next stop, tucked inside a seemingly divey little local bar called Hermosillo, is the Highland Park Brewery. The Hermosillo had been around for a while but HIghland Park Brewery has only been open for a few months. They offer taster and full size pours so we were able to try most of their beers and really get a feel for their style. This is a great place to grab a drink and catch up with friends thanks to its relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere.
To end the night we decided to try Pine & Crane. I have been researching noodle places since the move and this place has come up over and over. The hype was justified for sure. We were not very hungry but everything looked and smelled so good that we couldn't help ourselves. We decided to get potstickers, Dan Dan noodles, and the Three Cup Jidori Chicken. We had way to much food, which was just as delicious the next day for lunch. This is a perfect place for a quick meal because seating is limited so lingering over your tea and noodles is not necessarily courteous. They have a courtyard that looks great for summer just make sure you get your food to go. If we lived closer I would be ordering takeout from Pine & Crane every week.
We have to come see you guys this spring! Need the Crains! Need California!
