A few weeks ago I posted this picture. I am happy to report that our big project is finally complete.
Thanks to the help of my Dad, cousin, and husband along with design inspiration from my brother, sister-in-law and Pinterest we can now eat somewhere other than the couch!
We started at Lowe's and bought all the materials. The most important step was choosing pieces of wood that were straight, with no splintering or warping. We also looked for pieces with unique grain patterns.
What we used:
Table top- 2 2X10 and 3 2X8
Legs- 20 feet of 1 inch galvanized pipe (found in the plumbing section)
Fittings: 4 flanges and 6 1 inch tees
Finishes- 2 cans of satin finish spray paint and 1 can of stain polyurethane.
Materials- sand paper, brushes, rags, drop cloth, wood screws
My dad helped us cut and sand the wood and assemble the pipe for the legs. Then we loaded it in our car and drove it home for stain, paint and assembly.
We bought all the finishes and materials at Home Depot. I recommend making a list and then buy two of everything you think you need because, seriously, I stopped counting how many trips I made to Home Depot during this project. But it was all worth it!
When we originally looked for a new dining room table I found several tables on Esty for $800-$1,200. After totaling all of our materials and tools our table was $350.
